The first Oberonian stamp was issued in 1873 and featured the then 23 year old Emperor Castillo VIII, in front of a map of the Isle of Oberon. Castillo VIII was the youngest emperor since Lapetus Caliba in 419AD. He assumed the role of Emperor in 1868 at the age of 18 after the death of his father “Castillo VII”. He was a great philanthropist and a gifted architect. He was also the founder of the Eastern Oberonian city of Castillo which bares his name.
